Nouns teams up with Bud Light on a Super Bowl commercial and commemorative beer can.

Nouns collaborated with Bud Light for the 2022 Super Bowl, bringing Nouns Noggles to one of the most-watched events on the planet. The partnership marked a significant moment in the Nouns community, and showcased how onchain communities can make an impact on mainstream culture.

Proposal 33, submitted by the Nounders (the Nouns founders) proposed to “Feature Noun glasses in a Super Bowl commercial and on real beverage cans.” The proposal read:

“In exchange for one Noun from Nouns DAO, a prominent beverage company will include Noun glasses in a 2022 Super Bowl commercial.”

“Once the Noun is received, this brand will also change their Twitter avatar to feature Noun glasses and intends to allow holders of the brand’s own NFT to collectively vote with their Noun on future governance proposals.”

“Additionally, this brand may produce a limited run of real beverage cans featuring custom Noun packaging for distribution to Noun holders (of legal drinking age) at key events in some markets. Noun holders will be eligible to attend these events.”

The proposal passed and on February 13, 2022, during Super Bowl LVI, viewers were treated to a Bud Light Next commercial that subtly but clearly featured the Nouns Noggles. 

The ad, which highlighted Bud Light’s new zero-carb beer, included a character wearing the iconic Noggles, symbolizing the intersection of tradition and innovation—a perfect match for both Bud Light and the Nouns brand. The Super Bowl, known for its expensive and highly competitive ad slots, provided a significant platform for Nouns to showcase its community-driven brand.

Bud Light Next Community

After the actualization of the commercial Bud Light received Noun 179, the second Beer head Noun. Bud Light was allowing their Next NFT holders to vote on Nouns proposals, via a Snapshot vote where the majority vote was cast on behalf of holders — The ability to contribute to Nouns governance was given to holders between October 2022 and August 2023. 

“Brewskie,” Bud Light’s Noun, purchased for 127 ETH by the Nouns Foundation.

Bud Light also produced a series of limited edition, Nouns branded items, including a pair a Bud Light Next x Nouns beer cans, and Bud Light Next branded Noggles. Noggles were given out to the community and raffled off to Next NFT holders.
